Is in humanity,
If your confidence
Is in money,
If your confidence
Is in yourself,
Then my friend,
It is misplaced!
Quick! Look for it!
Where is it hiding?
Is it under your pillow?
Is it under your nose?
Behold! Who is that knocking? 1
Knocking on the door of your heart?
Is it your confidence knocking?
What a mystery! What a knock!
It is ever-persistent, an
Ever-lasting pursuit,
That knock!
For it is God Himself
Knocking at the door
Of your heart-
Can you hear Him?
Can you hear His voice?
Will you, after hearing His voice,
Let Him in?
Or will you, having not confidence,
In Him, keep the door closed?
Closed to the very
Confidant who wishes
To be close to you?
Closed to the very being who
Wants you to confide in Him?
For a confidant is the very
Person you confide in, and
With every occasion of confiding,
Build more confidence to have
A place where your trust rests in peace!
So will you rest your peace
On the one with whom
Every conversation
Is a confident prayer?
With whom the door of
Your heart is an open one
The same way you would leave the door
Of your house open in a safe place-
Where you keep your heart open
Because of your confidence
In the safety of His refuge 2
How much more you
Will sing His praises
As your heart lets God in! 3
How much more you will
Walk with authority, given
Even the most uncertain path
Ahead of you that only faith-
The confidence of in what you hope for 4
And assurance about what
You do not see-
Can get you through?
For when your faith-
Your confidence-
Is in God, he shall 5
Be your confidence
And keep your feet
From being taken away
From the path of His will
Helping you walk the path
In front of you,
Step by faithful step-
Having all trust in God
To protect you, and
Keep you safely
As you call on Him 6
He will answer
Just as he has faith
That you will answer
As the God of the universe
The creator of your being,
Your body, your heart
Knocks humbly at its door
To ask permission
To be let in through your own will
Given freely to you
And to converse
And to commune
And to connect
With His creation-
You! Made for the purpose
Of choosing to be with
Your maker
Your confider
Your confidant
Your confidence- Jesus.
