Everyday, before the sun
Breaks through the sky
I pick up my jar
So dusty, so dry
Carry it outside
To the three wells
One full of people
The second so desolate
The third quite far
Too far for me to care.
I make my choice
And set out to the people
Wanting to draw energy
From those around me
Their words seem distant
Their gazes go right through me
And I said maybe my energy
Should come from within
I head to the desolation
Seeking solace from solitude
And realized I had nothing
But the glimmer from that
Well far away
And make my choice
Today before the sun sets,
I pick up my jar
So dusty, so dry
And carry it to the well
Where I dip my jar
And feel my soul leave
The dust on the ground
And suddenly my parched throat
Is wet with songs that praise the
God who gives me energy
I draw my strength
From the well
Of Living water
And wait for Him to direct my path
Between the three wells
He directs my path to each of them
But my energy comes from Him alone.
Breaks through the sky
I pick up my jar
So dusty, so dry
Carry it outside
To the three wells
One full of people
The second so desolate
The third quite far
Too far for me to care.
I make my choice
And set out to the people
Wanting to draw energy
From those around me
Their words seem distant
Their gazes go right through me
And I said maybe my energy
Should come from within
I head to the desolation
Seeking solace from solitude
And realized I had nothing
But the glimmer from that
Well far away
And make my choice
Today before the sun sets,
I pick up my jar
So dusty, so dry
And carry it to the well
Where I dip my jar
And feel my soul leave
The dust on the ground
And suddenly my parched throat
Is wet with songs that praise the
God who gives me energy
I draw my strength
From the well
Of Living water
And wait for Him to direct my path
Between the three wells
He directs my path to each of them
But my energy comes from Him alone.
