Though darkness may assail us
With trouble on every side,
The Lord Jesus comes to save us
From God's wrath and our own pride

Singing songs of joyful praise
The Lord's Banner we will quickly raise
Watch the darkness tremble and fade
As the light of Jesus shines ablaze

As children we must come
To attain the grace we need
Humbly repenting to our God
Of sins that grow like weeds

Singing songs of joyful praise
The Lord's Banner we will quickly raise
Watch the darkness tremble and fade
As the light of Jesus shines ablaze

Escape the traps set by the fiend
Forgive to flee his cunning schemes
Love your enemies and see
God's salvation upon their being

Oh how Jesus died for me
So I run to Him to be set free
From these snares of sin and death
That try to choke faith's very breath

Singing songs of joyful praise
The Lord's Banner we will quickly raise
Watch the darkness tremble and fade
As the light of Jesus shines ablaze

So we won't fear the fiery trial
Nor the heart wounds from betrayal
Flinching not at guiltless guile
As we walk each thorny mile

Singing songs of joyful praise
The Lord's Banner we will quickly raise
Watch the darkness tremble and fade
As the light of Jesus shines ablaze

Seeking God in sorrow and pain
Of hope deferred and love that is feigned
Discerning truth from lies is germane
In this fight of faith through stormy rain

Singing songs of joyful praise
The Lord's Banner we will quickly raise
Watch the darkness tremble and fade
As the light of Jesus shines ablaze

  1. I could not help but note the perfect tie in to another hymn, “Onward Christian Solders” by Sabine Baring-Gould c: 1865.

Onward, Christian soldiers, marching as to war,
With the cross of Jesus going on before.
    Christ, the royal Master, leads against the foe;
Forward into battle see His banners go!
    Refrain:
Onward, Christian soldiers, marching as to war,
With the cross of Jesus going on before.

    On to victory, sister!!

    1. Amen!

      Ephesians 6:10-20 KJV
[10] Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. [11] Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. [12] For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. [13] Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. [14] Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; [15] and your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; [16] above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. [17] And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God: [18] praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints; [19] and for me, that utterance may be given unto me, that I may open my mouth boldly, to make known the mystery of the gospel, [20] for which I am an ambassador in bonds: that therein I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak.
