Genesis 1:1 (KJV)
In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.
In this simple yet profound starting statement, the first verse of the first book of the Bible challenges humanity to have a God-centered viewpoint rather than a human-centered (self-centered) viewpoint. By stating that it is God, and not a series of random events, who created the world, we are able to see and continue understanding the creator and His purpose behind the highly improbable geophysics and biochemistry that is needed for the sustenance of life on Earth. As we examine highly improbable events, we notice that they have a large enough denominator that the numerator seems to vanish- such as how the Earth’s unique position, spin and rotation in our solar system has allowed for life to exist. So what or who made that incredibly unlikely numerator become a reality?
Even as we look at other planets, such as Mars, as possible future habitats for the life forms found on Earth, we are unable to deny how much humanity had nothing to do with the exquisite detail found (and still being discovered) in each Earthly reaction and life process needing to be recapitulated on Martian soil.
So if human beings did not influence that crazy low probability to have it become a reality, in this case, of the Earth’s solar position and rotation that permitted life to exist in an otherwise hostile universe, then who or what did? The Bible states that God, who is outside the natural laws that govern the universe, created the universe. Perhaps you are not convinced, and perhaps you will leave comments as to why evolution may have been the driving force for this created world. If so, please feel free to do so and still consider the alternate hypothesis being presented by the Bible that God created the universe, as we are all humans whether we agree or disagree with one another. Meaning, your stance on the issue will not be treated with disrespect, because I believe that God made each one of us in His image, and therefore each human being deserves respect, even amidst disagreements, from another fellow-creation 🙂
Whether we are willing to consider that an external force called God created the universe as we know it, it is still an interesting concept to consider, as even just a possibility, that there is an externality that is not dictated by probabilities, or any other laws that dictate our reality. The Bible calls this externality who has always been in existence, and is therefore unaffected by any existing phenomenon: God.
Let’s learn more about the God described in the protestant Bible who created Earth, Mars, the universe, and life itself, and what our purpose is in Him:
